Suriname has a fairly free trade system, with large trade-flows relative to its GDP. The unweighted average rate tariff is 9.7% and there are no non-tariff barriers.

Suriname is a member of CARICOM and is a signatory to several regional and international trade agreements such as the Cotonou convention, the Free Trade Area of the America’s (FTAA) and the WTO.
